Get To Know Skilled Taekwando Instructor Addison
Taekwondo Instructor
Instructor Addison began her martial arts journey under Grandmaster Grimaldi as a child. Her parents were adamant about their daughters learning to defend themselves, and were excited for their girls to learn under a strong, female master. After a few years of training, Addison had to step away from the martial art, but promised herself that she would one day continue her training and achieve her black belt.
While attending college in 2016, Addison was able to resume her training in Grandmaster Grimaldi’s self-defense course taught at IUN. Throwing herself back into the martial arts, Instructor Addison rekindled her passion for Taekwondo, and earned her first-degree black belt in 2019.
Now a third-degree black belt, Instructor Addison enjoys both the practical and aesthetic aspects of martial arts. She trains in Taekwondo and Hapkido, which have influenced her mixed grappling and striking style of self-defense. She believes that it is particularly important for women to be able to defend themselves, and loves seeing students find empowerment through their skills. Instructor Addison also appreciates Poomsae, or traditional martial arts forms. She has competed and placed in regional tournaments in Sport Poomsae, and aims to compete at higher level tournaments in the near future. For Instructor Addison, Sport Poomsae is a creative and competitive outlet.
When she is not teaching or training, Instructor Addison works full-time as a registered nurse. She has a passion for health and wellness, with an affinity for complementary and alternative medicine. In her free time, Instructor Addison enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and geocaching. She also loves to travel, go to rock concerts, and spend time with her family, plants, and pets.
